The Q Course was originally developed in the late 1960s under the name New Life in Christ. Inspired by an idea from the Christian Publicity Organisation (CPO), it was adapted and refined into a practical tool for helping people explore the Christian faith. Over the years, it has proven to be one of the most effective ways of guiding both new believers and those curious about Christianity, largely because it takes people directly into the Bible for answers rather than offering lengthy explanations.
The course consists of 15 short studies, given one at a time. Each study is completed individually before meeting together for an hour-long discussion. This simple, flexible format allows people to engage at their own pace and depth — noting what they already accept and spending more time on areas they want to explore. Participants are always in control: if someone chooses not to continue, they are free to stop at any point without pressure.
The Q Course has been used in churches across England, including Christchurch Baptist Church, as well as further afield with university students in Iowa through the Navigators. It has helped many people come to faith and grow as followers of Jesus, and continues to be a valuable resource for personal discovery and discipleship.
